Imaginary Thing
Permanent Installation
Aspen Art Museum

For this permanent installation of buried art (a sort-of time capsule) at the Aspen Art Museum guest-curated by Peter Eleey of the Minneapolis Walker Art Center, I chose the vase I had made to honor Marine Nick J. Palmer of Leadville, CO to represent all the 4,118 soldiers who had been killed in Iraq. Besides the list of names, I enclosed a picture and information about Nick, and my wish that all these soldiers would still be walking the earth today. Nick's vase was wraped in three layers of fabric: red, white and blue, and then installed in the exhibit.
